About: Wellington Bullings ﷯Wellington has studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston MA, and has majored in Vocal Jazz, Songwriting and Music Business. While in Boston, she taught voice lessons to younger students and was the lead singer in dozens of jazz, soul, and Motown ensembles. In addition to her experience as a teacher and performer, she also has a lot of experience as a stage actor, appearing in many musicals and Shakespeare productions in Colorado. As a composer, she has written music for many other artists. Recently, she was a featured artist and cowriter of a song for a local musician’s album, which was recorded by nine time Grammy Award Winning engineer. After college, Wellington moved to beautiful Boulder to pursue her passion for teaching and performing. Her vocal education is deeply rooted in jazz, soul, and pop, but she believes that every musical genre has something important to teach a singer. Teaching philosophy: ﷯ I teach from a very holistic perspective, because I believe that in order to be a great vocalist, one must address the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the voice. In some ways the voice is one of the hardest instruments to play. When one sings they are not always aware of what’s going on inside of them. My goal is to bring this awareness to my students by teaching them proper vocal technique and the importance of breath support. I encourage my students to go for what feels right in their own voice, while also challenging them to explore the depths of their full vocal capacity. I believe that in order to sing with ease and control, one must feel comfortable, relaxed, and have a sense of body awareness. In addition to all of the work one must do to be a great vocalist, I firmly believe that one must sing with heart and honesty. To be a singer is to also be a communicator and storyteller. Therefore, I instill the importance of learning how to interpret the meaning of a song.
